Rolls-Royce is leading an innovative initiative through its Phoenix project, which aims to develop a new-generation hydrogen engine for combined heat and power systems. The project, in collaboration with partners like the Institute for Sustainable Mobile propulsion systems and Robert Bosch AG, is supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection. With a focus on increasing renewable energy sources, the project targets zero carbon emissions in energy production by utilizing green hydrogen. Key components being developed include an injection system, piston group, ignition system, and new lubricant.
