XCMG Advances Hydrogen Plans with World's First 240 Ton Class Mining Truck
Key Ideas
  • XCMG, CHN Energy, and THIKO New Energy collaborate to develop the world's first 240 ton class hydrogen mining truck for deployment at Baorixile coal mine in the fourth quarter of 2024.
  • THIKO New Energy is also working on constructing new green hydrogen generation in the Hulunbuir region to support a closed-loop business model.
  • XCMG introduces a smaller class hydrogen fuel cell dump truck model, EHSL552F, with advanced features for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and enhancing operational efficiency in mining operations.
  • XCMG has been actively involved in hydrogen energy equipment research and manufacturing, unveiling multiple hydrogen-powered vehicle models, including mining trucks and loaders, to promote sustainability in various sectors.
China's XCMG, in partnership with CHN Energy and THIKO New Energy, is pioneering the development of hydrogen-powered mining trucks. A consortium has been formed to create a 240 ton class hydrogen mining truck, the first of its kind, which is set to be deployed at the Baorixile coal mine in Inner Mongolia. This Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) will be equipped with both a battery pack and a hydrogen fuel cell power system. The trio's collaboration aims to leverage the mining expertise of CHN Energy, XCMG's technology in mining trucks, and THIKO New Energy's advancements in high-powered hydrogen fuel cells. THIKO New Energy is also planning to establish green hydrogen generation facilities in the region, supporting a closed-loop business model. XCMG has also introduced the EHSL552F, a smaller class hydrogen fuel cell dump truck, designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions significantly in large-scale transportation projects like mining operations. This model incorporates advanced technology for long-distance operations, a 6-speed gearbox, and a lightweight design that doesn't compromise structural integrity. Additionally, XCMG has been actively engaged in hydrogen energy equipment development, introducing various hydrogen-powered models like the XC968-FCEV electric loader. This concerted effort by XCMG and its partners signifies a positive step towards sustainability in the mining industry and highlights the increasing focus on green technology and energy innovation.
