These facilities are fully operational and part of CPKC's innovative Hydrogen Locomotive Program, which involves retrofitting diesel locomotives with hydrogen fuel cells to operate without directly generating emissions, contributing to a lower carbon transportation future. CPKC's Assistant Vice President mentioned that these fuelling facilities are crucial for testing hydrogen locomotives and advancing the industry-leading program. ATCO EnPower provided engineering, procurement, and construction services for the facilities and will operate them.
