The German state of Baden-Württemberg has initiated a new €100m subsidy program to support local hydrogen production projects, particularly those based on electrolysis. The funding, under the Funding for Electrolysers (ELY) program, aims to promote the development of hydrogen infrastructure within the state. Projects can apply for grants until May 15, 2025, with a maximum funding amount of €10m per project. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have the opportunity to secure up to €8.25m per project. The subsidy will cover up to 45% of eligible investment costs, with additional percentages allocated for small and medium-sized businesses. The program is backed by the German Ministry for Environment, Climate and Energy Economy and will be managed by the Karlsruhe Project Management Agency. Baden-Württemberg Energy Minister Thekla Walker highlighted the increasing demand for renewable hydrogen in the region, indicating a need for accelerated production to meet the rising needs. This initiative not only supports environmental sustainability but also fosters economic growth and technological advancements in the hydrogen sector.
