A large integrated solar-hydrogen farm, known as the Rudong offshore photovoltaic-hydrogen energy storage project, has started its operations in the tidal flat area of eastern China. Owned by Guohua Energy Investment Co Ltd under the CHN Energy Investment Group, the project is the largest of its kind in China. It officially connected to the grid on Dec 31, 2024, in Rudong County, Jiangsu Province. The project aims to integrate photovoltaic power generation, hydrogen production, refuelling, and energy storage, marking China's first comprehensive energy utilization and coastal ecological management project. With a total capacity of 400 megawatts, the project is set to save approximately 151,000 tonnes of standard coal annually and reduce emissions significantly, including carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, and nitrogen dioxide.
