China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) recently organized a significant multilateral event at COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, focusing on the role of hydrogen energy in fostering a sustainable future with net-zero emissions. Co-hosted by Sinopec, the International Hydrogen Fuel Cell Association (IHFCA), and the Foreign Environmental Cooperation Center (FECO), the event marked a milestone as the first hydrogen-themed event by a Chinese company at the COP conference. Two pivotal reports were launched during the event, showcasing China's advancements in hydrogen energy innovation, green hydrogen production, and international cooperation. Sinopec's Chairman, Ma Yongsheng, highlighted the necessity of collaborative efforts in transitioning towards a hydrogen era in the energy sector, underscoring the importance of global partnerships and technological exchanges. Sinopec's initiatives include green hydrogen demonstration projects, hydrogen refueling stations, and plans for expanding green hydrogen production capacity.
