FuelCell Energy and Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Sdn Bhd (MHB) have formed a partnership to develop hydrogen production facilities in the Asia-Pacific region. The collaboration, initiated with a memorandum of understanding in 2023, has now advanced to a Joint Development Agreement. This agreement will facilitate a Detailed Feasibility Study for a low-carbon fuel production facility using solid oxide electrolysis technology in Malaysia. The project aims to produce low-carbon fuel from carbon dioxide and water feedstocks. The partnership aligns with Malaysia's ambition to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 and strengthen its hydrogen value chain. The CEOs of both companies have expressed optimism about scaling up their efforts and delivering impactful solutions for the energy transition. FuelCell Energy's expertise in SOEC technology combined with MHB's fabrication capabilities signal a significant step towards enhancing clean energy production and supporting global decarbonization goals.
