Lhyfe, a leading player in green and renewable hydrogen production, has announced the construction of its fifth green hydrogen production facility in Croixrault, Somme, Hauts-de-France, marking its expansion into northern France. This strategic move aims to provide manufacturers and mobility operators in the region with locally produced green hydrogen to support their decarbonisation efforts. The facility, set to commence operations in 2026, will have a 5 MW electrolysis capacity, enabling the production of up to two tonnes of green hydrogen daily, sufficient to power a hydrogen truck for 25,000 km without CO2 emissions. The initiative is expected to play a vital role in reducing dependence on fossil fuels in heavy mobility and industrial sectors, contributing to regional energy sovereignty and sustainable re-industrialisation. By replacing grey hydrogen and supporting new production processes, green hydrogen is poised to drive industrial transformation in Hauts-de-France, known for its major industrial presence in sectors like chemical, metallurgy, steel, and glass. Lhyfe's green hydrogen will be distributed to fuel stations, logistics platforms, and heavy-duty vehicles, facilitating a substantial shift towards low-carbon transportation in the region. The project has garnered strong support from local authorities, with the President of CC2SO highlighting the project's alignment with regional innovation and resource utilization. Additionally, Lhyfe's Sales Director France emphasized the project's significance in Europe's green hydrogen sector, supporting the energy transition, reindustrialisation, and energy sovereignty of the region. The Croixrault facility is expected to accelerate the adoption of green hydrogen in northern France, reinforcing Hauts-de-France's position as a leader in sustainable industrial transformation and clean mobility solutions.
