In Kuching, Malaysia, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof highlighted the country's commitment to prioritizing an innovation-friendly environment to leverage hydrogen's potential across multiple sectors. This commitment includes providing financial support, incentives for technology adoption, and fostering collaboration among various stakeholders. The government's focus on harnessing hydrogen power for a sustainable future was emphasized at the Asia-Pacific Green Hydrogen (APGH) Conference and Exhibition 2024. Fadillah Yusof mentioned that agencies under the Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry are actively pursuing hydrogen initiatives such as fuel cell research, biomass and water electrolysis production, and green hydrogen export projects. Malaysia's strong government support for the hydrogen economy was underscored through the launch of the Hydrogen Economy and Technology Roadmap, aiming to position the country as a leading hydrogen economy by 2050. This roadmap addresses challenges in the hydrogen value chain, emphasizing governance, technology commercialization, and human capital development. Additionally, infrastructure development and investments are recognized as crucial for widespread hydrogen adoption. Malaysia envisions itself as a regional leader in hydrogen technology and innovation by promoting research and development and fostering an ecosystem conducive to idea generation and business growth.
