Spanish company Matteco has successfully closed a €15 million Series A investment round to bolster its production of materials essential for green hydrogen. The investment, supported by national and international family offices including Grupo ASV, Napali, and Zubi, will fund the launch of a new catalyst and electrode factory in Paterna, Valencia. This expansion is anticipated to allow Matteco to manufacture 1 gigawatt of electrodes annually, meeting the increasing global demand for integrating its materials with electrolyzer manufacturers. The company's customer base spans across Europe, North America, and Asia. With plans to grow its team from 30 to 100 in 2025, Matteco is also focusing on enhancing innovation and efficiency in production processes to maintain a leading position in the clean technology sector. Co-Founder and CEO, Iker Marcaide, expressed optimism about this growth phase and emphasized the importance of materials innovation in addressing environmental challenges. Gonzalo Abellán, Co-Founder and CTO, highlighted the competitiveness brought by Matteco's patented technology developed through a decade of research and development.
