Pure Hydrogen Corporation, an Australian clean energy company, has achieved a significant milestone by registering Australia's first Hydrogen Fuel Cell Prime Mover in Brisbane, Queensland. The vehicle is set to be handed over to PepsiCo as part of a partnership formed in September 2022. This collaboration aims to conduct a six-month trial of the Hydrogen Fuel Cell 6×4 Prime Mover, with Pure Hydrogen providing refuelling, maintenance, and repair services. Managing Director Scott Brown emphasized the company's commitment to pioneering hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in Australia, positioning Pure Hydrogen as a leader in the hydrogen and energy sector in the country. The trial will allow PepsiCo to evaluate the commercial potential of hydrogen-powered vehicles and potentially expand their fleet based on the outcomes. Despite facing challenges during the approval process, including restrictive red tape for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, Pure Hydrogen remains optimistic about the future of hydrogen transportation. The involvement of HDrive International, a key partner in the project, was instrumental in overcoming these challenges and successfully completing the homologation and road approval process. This initiative aligns with Queensland's Hydrogen Industry Strategy 2019-2024, which aims to position the state as a leader in renewable hydrogen production by 2030, showcasing the growing importance of hydrogen in the clean energy transition.
