The state's partnerships with Japan, South Korea, and China have broadened its hydrogen supply chain, establishing Sarawak as a frontrunner in the Asia-Pacific green hydrogen economy. To reinforce its position as a green energy powerhouse in Asean, Sarawak aims to enhance its electricity generation capacity to 10GW by 2030 and 15GW by 2035, supporting industries and facilitating regional electricity exports. Through initiatives like the Asean Power Grid, the state envisions enhancing regional energy security and exploring storage solutions. Sarawak's initiatives align with its sustainable development goals, including the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030, which focuses on prosperity, inclusivity, and environmental sustainability. The implementation of bold policy reforms like the Land (Carbon Storage) Rules 2022 and the Natural Resources and Environment Ordinance 2024 demonstrates Sarawak's commitment to industrial decarbonisation and green innovation for a sustainable future.
