India's proactive approach towards a sustainable future is evident through the launch of the National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM) under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). With a focus on curbing CO2 emissions and reducing the carbon footprint, India aims to produce 5 MMT of green hydrogen annually by 2030. Gujarat, in particular, has emerged as a global leader in green hydrogen production, setting ambitious targets to produce 3 MMT of green hydrogen by 2030. The state has strategically allocated land in Kutch and Banaskantha districts, committed significant financial resources, and introduced incentives to boost electrolyser production. Private companies like Welspun, Essar Group, and Reliance Industries are making substantial investments in green hydrogen projects, furthering India's decarbonisation goals. These investments not only aim to produce green hydrogen but also focus on building infrastructure for storage and transportation, creating a sustainable industrial ecosystem. With collaborations between the government and private sector, Gujarat is on track to become the Green Hydrogen Hub of India, paving the way for a cleaner and greener future.
