The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) has introduced a new initiative named 'Tech for Transformation' to enhance innovation, entrepreneurship, and skill development in advanced technologies. Developed by AARTI, the institute's Industry Accelerator, the program aligns with the vision of Shrestha Bharat and is supported by ICICI Foundation in partnership with the Hydrocarbon Sector Skill Council and Ambuja Foundation. The event, graced by Dr. Ranjit Kumar Sinha, IAS, Secretary of Technical Education, Uttarakhand Government, witnessed the inauguration of a modern EV Training Facility and Laboratory to facilitate practical learning in the electric vehicle industry. IIT Roorkee also launched an Advanced Course on Green Hydrogen and Electric Vehicles for college students and organized a 'Drone for Agriculture' workshop in collaboration with Bhoomicam Pvt. Ltd., a startup from the institute. Various industry giants like Mahindra & Mahindra, HSSC, and Hella Lighting Pvt. Ltd. participated in the event, along with incubators from IIT Roorkee. Discussions revolved around enhancing collaboration between industries and academia, emphasizing technological advancements in sustainability sectors. Prof. Kamal Kishore Pant, Director of IIT Roorkee, emphasized the significance of industry-academia partnerships in equipping individuals with modern skills in fields like EVs, green hydrogen, and drone technology. Dr. Ranjit Kumar Sinha commended IIT Roorkee for its efforts in skill development, foreseeing a more self-reliant and technologically advanced India as a result. The event, attended by students, entrepreneurs, industry leaders, and farmers, marked a significant leap in technology-driven skill development. Distinguished guests from various organizations like ICICI Foundation, Adani Cements, and Hella India Lighting, among others, were present, showing strong support for the initiative.
