The Albanese Government of Australia has directed $3 million from the TAFE Technology Fund towards enhancing electric vehicle (EV) training at TAFE Queensland. This investment is expected to benefit over 5,000 trade students and their prospective employers across the state. The funds will facilitate the installation of advanced equipment such as Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) training simulators, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, used BEVs, 3D scanners, and virtual reality headsets at TAFE Queensland's Acacia Ridge and Bohle campuses. The main objective of this initiative is to provide high-quality hands-on learning opportunities for students, enabling them to acquire the necessary skills for EV maintenance and repair. Minister for Skills and Training, Brendan O'Connor emphasized the importance of upskilling Australians to leverage new technologies for a cleaner and sustainable future. The government's $50 million TAFE Technology Fund aims to equip TAFEs to deliver training that meets both student and industry standards. This investment aligns with Australia's transition to net zero emissions and emphasizes the significance of renewables skills development. Furthermore, with a considerable investment of $502.9 million, the government plans to offer an additional 320,000 Fee-Free TAFE and VET places nationwide over the next three years. This substantial funding demonstrates a commitment to skills training and sets the stage for a Future Made in Australia, emphasizing the importance of preparing the workforce for evolving industry demands.
