Empowering Mindanao: HDF to Establish Green Hydrogen Power Plants
Key Ideas
  • HDF, a French green hydrogen company, signed three MOCs to establish Renewstable® hydrogen power plant projects in Surigao del Norte, Agusan del Sur, and Zamboanga City to enhance electricity reliability and boost renewable energy in Mindanao.
  • The projects aim to generate firm power from intermittent renewable sources by converting them into green hydrogen, producing electricity on demand through HDF's HyPower® technology, and relying mainly on renewable resources for energy production.
  • Stakeholder collaboration, technical validation, and grid assessment are key components of the agreements to ensure optimal project location near the grid, supporting the development stages.
  • Provincial representatives highlighted the importance of these projects in addressing energy challenges, high power rates, and intermittent power supply issues across provinces like Surigao del Norte, Agusan del Sur, and Zamboanga City, emphasizing the potential benefits for growth and energy stability.
Hydrogène de France (HDF), a leading French green hydrogen company, has signed three Memorandum of Cooperation (MOCs) to establish Renewstable® hydrogen power plant projects in Surigao del Norte, Agusan del Sur, and Zamboanga City to improve electricity reliability and boost renewable energy in Mindanao. The signing ceremony, witnessed by Ambassador Marie Fontanel of the French Embassy and Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) Secretary Leo Tereso A. Magno, took place in Davao City. These projects focus on developing multi-megawatt power plants that convert intermittent renewable sources like wind and solar into green hydrogen, providing firm power and producing electricity on demand through HDF's HyPower® technology. The initiative, termed 'Green Stable Electricity' by HDF Energy Philippines President and Director Mathieu Geze, emphasizes using renewable resources for energy production. The agreements entail stakeholder collaboration, technical validation, and grid assessment to secure optimal project locations near the grid. Provincial representatives from Surigao del Norte, Agusan del Sur, and Zamboanga City highlighted the significance of these projects in addressing energy challenges, high power rates, and intermittent power supply issues. They emphasized the potential benefits for growth and energy stability in their respective provinces. The collaboration between HDF Energy and local stakeholders aims to enhance Mindanao's renewable energy infrastructure, promote sustainable energy solutions, and reduce carbon emissions in the region, marking a significant step towards a greener and more reliable energy future for Mindanao.
