Revolutionizing European Transport: HVS and Kopala International Lead the Hydrogen Transition
Key Ideas
  • HVS signs a MoA with Kopala International to supply left-hand drive hydrogen-electric HGVs, advancing the European road haulage industry's transition to zero-emission fleets.
  • The collaboration supports the HydrogenizingBCN Initiative aiming to create a green hydrogen economy aligned with the EU's Green Deal, with plans for a Hydrogen Corridor across multiple Spanish cities.
  • Spain's strategic objective includes a target of 11 gigawatts of electrolyser capacity for green hydrogen production by 2030, promoting a sustainable energy source for climate neutrality by 2050 and generating employment in a green economy.
  • The partnership between HVS and Kopala International marks a significant milestone in promoting hydrogen-powered logistics, with a pre-order of 50 FCEV HGVs set to kickstart the HydrogenizingBCN Initiative's Phase 1 by 2027.
Hydrogen Vehicle Systems (HVS) has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Kopala International SL to supply left-hand drive hydrogen-electric Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) for the Transition to Zero Programme. This collaboration aims to advance the decarbonisation of the European road haulage industry by deploying innovative HGVs on real-world delivery routes. The HydrogenizingBCN Initiative, supported by over 20 global organizations, focuses on creating a green hydrogen economy aligned with the EU's Green Deal. Spain's strategic objective includes a target of 11 gigawatts of electrolyser capacity for green hydrogen production by 2030, promoting a sustainable energy source for climate neutrality by 2050. The HydrogenizingBCN Initiative plans to establish a Hydrogen Corridor across Spanish cities, starting with Barcelona, Zaragoza, Madrid, Valencia, and Murcia. HVS' MoA with Kopala International marks their first order for left-hand drive models, opening doors to the European market and promoting hydrogen-powered logistics. The pre-order of 50 FCEV HGVs will kickstart the HydrogenizingBCN Initiative's Phase 1, aiming to produce and supply 20MW of green hydrogen to fuel up to 200 hydrogen fuel cell powered vehicles by early 2027, showcasing the viability of hydrogen-powered transportation in Europe.
