Brookfield Asset Management has announced a significant investment of up to $1.1 billion in Infinium, a company focused on developing sustainable aviation fuels (SAF). These fuels, including e-SAF and e-Diesel, offer low-carbon alternatives to traditional fossil-based fuels and are produced by converting captured CO2 and hydrogen from renewable electricity sources. The investment by Brookfield aims to accelerate the availability of these cleaner fuels by supporting Infinium's projects, particularly the Roadrunner project in West Texas and other e-Fuels initiatives globally. The partnership also involves Breakthrough Energy Catalyst, which previously invested $75 million in Infinium's Roadrunner project. Infinium has secured a deal with American Airlines to supply e-SAF on a commercial scale starting in 2026. The move comes in the wake of increasing global CO2 emissions, emphasizing the urgent need to reduce emissions from fossil fuels to combat climate change effectively.
