Gasgrid has chosen StreamTec Solutions AG (STS) as the recipient of a Framework contract for Owners Engineering (OE) Services to aid in the development of hydrogen transmission infrastructure projects within the Baltic Sea region. These initiatives aim to bolster energy self-sufficiency and stimulate investments in the hydrogen economy in Finland. The awarded Framework contract spans a minimum of 4 years, with provisions for extension up to 4 additional years. The primary focus will be on two pivotal projects: the Baltic Sea Hydrogen Collector (BHC), which intends to construct an extensive offshore hydrogen pipeline network linking Finland, Sweden, and Central Europe to facilitate the production of clean hydrogen for European consumption, and the Nordic Baltic Hydrogen Corridor (NBHC), slated to establish a hydrogen infrastructure from Finland to Germany through Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland by 2030. Esa Hallivuori, the Senior Vice President of Infrastructure Projects at Gasgrid, emphasized the positive impacts of the hydrogen economy, foreseeing enhanced security of supply, safety, flexibility in the energy system, and the generation of new investments and job opportunities in the Baltic Sea region and beyond. Georg Nowack, the Project Manager at STS, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration with Gasgrid, underlining their competence in executing groundbreaking projects in the hydrogen and offshore construction sectors. The partnership between Gasgrid and STS signifies a significant step towards advancing hydrogen infrastructure developments and fostering energy sustainability in the Baltic Sea area and Europe at large.
