Hygreen Energy, in collaboration with partners, is set to invest €2bn in green hydrogen projects in Andalusia, Spain. The Chinese electrolyser manufacturer plans to establish its hydrogen technology in the region, partnering with Spanish energy utility Coxabengoa. The investment will support the development of new green hydrogen plants and an electrolyser production factory. With a focus on manufacturing 5MW electrolysers initially, the factory aims to scale up to a capacity of 5GW. This venture aligns with Spain's ambitious target of achieving 74% electricity generation through renewables by 2030, with green hydrogen playing a pivotal role. Notably, the Spanish Government's Hydrogen Roadmap has allocated €1.5bn to advance hydrogen utilization and production. The investment by Hygreen Energy is expected to catalyze Andalusia's position as a prominent green hydrogen hub in Spain and Europe, leveraging the region's abundant renewable resources. The European Commission's approval of a €1.2bn Spanish scheme to boost renewable hydrogen production further supports the transition to a more sustainable economy.
