Jindal Stainless (JSL) has unveiled a plan to invest Rs 700 crore in decarbonisation initiatives over the next five years to work towards achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. The company's ambitious investment strategy will focus on various environmental projects, including renewable energy, green hydrogen, biodiversity conservation, waste management, and the adoption of advanced carbon capture technologies. JSL aims to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and carbon intensity by 50 per cent by FY35, aligning with its long-term environmental goals while also driving financial growth. In addition to these initiatives, JSL has introduced a task force dedicated to nature-related financial disclosures (TNFD), which will play a key role in assessing and mitigating nature-related risks, as well as identifying opportunities for resilience and environmental stewardship. The TNFD framework will be structured around four pillars: governance, strategy, risk management, and impact assessment, enabling JSL to effectively monitor and manage its progress towards sustainability. The company's recent report highlights specific investments in renewable energy, green hydrogen, innovative recycling technologies, and detailed Biodiversity Management Plans (BMPs) and nature risk assessments at key Jindal Stainless facilities in Jajpur, Hisar, and Vizag.
