Linde plc has committed to investing an additional $3 billion in decarbonising its operations to support its Net Zero goals. This move was confirmed with the publication of the company's 2023 Sustainable Development Report, outlining its progress towards sustainability. Linde is actively working towards a 35% reduction in greenhouse gas intensity by 2028 and aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. With a project pipeline valued at up to $50 billion over the next decade, the company is focusing on clean energy solutions, including hydrogen production, carbon capture, and storage. The report highlights that Linde has already achieved a 4.4% reduction in absolute greenhouse gas emissions compared to its 2021 baseline for its 2025 emissions reduction target. Moreover, the company has assisted its customers in avoiding 91 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent in 2024, which is more than double its own emissions. Linde's Vice-President of Sustainability, Tamara Brown, expressed satisfaction with the company's progress, emphasizing the achievement of long-term goals ahead of schedule. Linde's sustainable productivity initiatives have led to significant water and waste savings. The company saved 500 million gallons of water and diverted 250 million pounds of waste from landfills as part of its zero-waste program. Additionally, Linde has actively engaged in social resilience efforts, delivering nearly 600 employee community engagement programs that have benefited over 350,000 individuals worldwide. Looking ahead, Linde aims to maintain its momentum in 2024 by setting even higher standards and incorporating ambitious new targets in decarbonisation, waste management, water conservation, and sustainability practices. The company's commitment to sustainability and positive impact on both its operations and the community underlines its dedication to driving meaningful change in the industrial gas sector.
