Sparc Technologies Ltd is making significant strides in the realms of green hydrogen production and innovative coating technology. Managing director Nick O'Loughlin highlighted Sparc Hydrogen's distinctive method of leveraging photocatalysis to produce green hydrogen without the usual high power costs linked to electrolysis. The company is moving forward with its joint venture with Fortescue Limited and the University of Adelaide, taking steps towards the establishment of a pilot plant near Adelaide. Additionally, Sparc Technologies recently attained patent approval in Morocco for its hydrogen production technology, with several other jurisdictions currently under review. On the coating side, the company's Ecosparc technology aims to improve the durability of protective coatings, particularly for heavy steel infrastructure, and is undergoing trials with the BHP Mitsubishi Alliance in harsh environments to validate its effectiveness. Looking to the future, Sparc plans to complete its pilot plant by mid-2025 and aims to progress towards commercializing EcoSparc. O'Loughlin expressed confidence in achieving commercialization within the year, underscoring the potential for significant cost and carbon savings with their innovative solutions.
