The state government, led by CM Mamata Banerjee, is actively promoting green manufacturing and renewable energy by offering incentives to manufacturers. An integral part of this initiative is the focus on setting up green hydrogen units within the state. Bengal is also planning to establish a recycling unit for electronic waste management as part of its commitment to sustainability. The introduction of a green hydrogen policy, unveiled during the Bengal Global Business Summit in 2023, further solidifies the state's dedication to eco-friendly practices. Sanjay Budhia, the managing director of Patton, reiterated the necessity of cohesive policies, incentivization strategies, and robust enforcement mechanisms to expedite the transition towards a circular economy.
