The Ministry of Public Works and Communications in Paraguay, led by Minister Claudia Centurión and Vice Minister Mauricio Bejarano, introduced the National Strategy for the Green Hydrogen Economy. The initiative, developed in collaboration with Deloitte Advisory of Spain and financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), aims to propel sustainable energy development in Paraguay. Minister Centurión emphasized the importance of this strategy in advancing both technological and economic growth, highlighting its role in decarbonizing economic sectors and diversifying energy sources. Vice Minister Bejarano underscored Paraguay's exceptional conditions for green hydrogen production, presenting a promising opportunity for investment in the country. The IDB representative in Paraguay, Alonso Echeverry, praised the environmental and economic advantages that the green hydrogen sector will bring, positioning Paraguay as a global player. The National Strategy leverages the country's abundant renewable energy sources from hydroelectric plants like Itaipú, Yacyretá, and Acaray, making Paraguay a competitive player in green hydrogen production. The collaborative efforts of public, private, and academic sectors ensured the technical and practical viability of the strategy. The event, held at the La Misión hotel, was attended by various stakeholders from governmental and private institutions, symbolizing a collective commitment to sustainable energy development.
