Abastible has confirmed its foray into the green hydrogen industry in Chile by unveiling a portfolio of projects valued at more than $13 billion. The company aims to leverage its technical expertise to drive the adoption of environmentally sustainable energies. Ignacio Mackenna, the Commercial Solutions Manager at Abastible Energy, highlighted the importance of these projects in advancing the green hydrogen market. One of the initiatives involves a partnership with Comasa to develop carbon-neutral fertilizers using green ammonia derived from organic waste in the Araucanía region. This project, with an initial investment of around $10 billion and support from Corfo, signifies a significant step towards sustainable agricultural practices. Additionally, Abastible is working on another $3 billion project to promote green hydrogen in mobility and blending applications. By seeking strategic partners and government backing, such as from Corfo, Abastible aims to accelerate the energy transition and facilitate the decarbonization of industries using fossil fuels. This move is part of Abastible's broader strategy to diversify its business and explore new energy solutions beyond its traditional liquefied gas focus. As the sole liquefied gas distribution company in the Chilean Green Hydrogen Association, Abastible's entry into the green hydrogen sector showcases its commitment to sustainability and innovation.
