Air Liquide has announced a strategic collaboration with TotalEnergies to develop two major electrolyser projects in the Netherlands, focusing on the production of renewable and low-carbon hydrogen. The first project, located in Maasvlakte, Rotterdam, will see Air Liquide building, owning, and operating a 200 MW electrolyser. This facility is expected to generate approximately 23,000 tons of hydrogen annually, catering to TotalEnergies' industrial platform under a long-term contract. Moreover, the project aims to serve the needs of industrial and heavy-duty mobility customers in the Dutch and Belgian markets. Furthermore, the partnership involves the creation of a 50:50 joint venture to establish a 250 MW electrolyser in the Zeeland province. This initiative, supported by renewable power sources like Oranjewind, is projected to produce around 30,000 tons of hydrogen yearly. The commissioning of this electrolyser is scheduled for 2029, subject to final approvals and investment decisions. These projects mark a significant advancement in the adoption of green hydrogen technologies in the Netherlands, as they utilize renewable energy sources from wind projects like OranjeWind and Hollandse Kust Zuid.
