Saudi Arabian energy giant Aramco has finalized the acquisition of a 50% equity interest in Blue Hydrogen Industrial Gases Company (BHIG), a subsidiary of Air Products Qudra, a joint venture of Air Products and Saudi Arabian Qudra Energy. BHIG is set to produce blue hydrogen, derived from natural gas with carbon capture and storage capabilities, to commence operations in conjunction with Aramco's CCS activities in Jubail, Saudi Arabia. Aramco's Executive Vice President noted that this investment will aid in establishing a hydrogen network in the Eastern Province, contributing to emission reductions and energy portfolio diversification. The joint venture, a collaboration between Aramco and Air Products Qudra, aims to support the Kingdom's Vision 2030 by focusing on lower-carbon energy solutions. Aramco's strategic direction includes investments in various technologies like hydrogen and ammonia to achieve sustainability goals and reduce carbon emissions.
