The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has announced a tender for a 2.5-megawatt (MW) alkaline electrolyser project in Dubai aimed at producing hydrogen. This project, to be completed on a turnkey basis, involves the design, supply, installation, and commissioning of the electrolyser. Interested parties have until September 18, 2024, to submit their tenders. While specific details about the project are limited, DEWA currently operates a 1.25MW Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyser at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. This PEM electrolyser, running on solar energy, produces 20 kilograms of green hydrogen per hour. The pilot project, established in collaboration with Expo 2020 Dubai and Siemens Energy, signifies the commitment to green hydrogen production. The global market for green hydrogen is dominated by alkaline and PEM electrolysers, as highlighted in a report by Clean Energy Associates.
