The Power Grid Corporation of India (POWERGRID) has partnered with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (RRVPNL) to establish the Rajasthan Power Grid Transmission Company (RPTCL) in Rajasthan. The joint venture aims to enhance the state's intrastate transmission system to meet the growing energy demands and strengthen the electricity distribution network. This initiative aligns with Rajasthan's Integrated Clean Energy Policy, 2024, targeting 125,000 MW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, with a significant focus on solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems. Rajasthan has already achieved over 50% solar capacity in its total installed power capacity, making it a leader in solar energy. The state plans to further harness solar energy by developing a solar-powered green hydrogen plant and a fuel cell-based microgrid system. Moreover, POWERGRID's recent success in securing transmission projects to evacuate 3.5 GW of power from Rajasthan's renewable energy zone highlights its commitment to renewable energy development. Additionally, POWERGRID's approval to issue bonds worth ₹42.5 billion signifies a significant financial investment in enhancing the state's energy infrastructure. These initiatives collectively contribute to Rajasthan's sustainable energy future and reinforce its position as a key player in India's renewable energy landscape.
