The LNG and Hydrogen Development Report for Q4 2024, released by Wael Hamed Abdel Moati, an LNG Expert at OAPEC, highlighted the growth in global LNG trade. The report stated that total LNG exports reached 411.5 million tons in 2024, showing a 1.6% increase from the previous year. Arab countries played a significant role, accounting for 26.4% of the global LNG exports. Additionally, global LNG demand saw a similar growth rate, reaching 412.8 million tons in 2024.
The report also shed light on the increasing focus on hydrogen, with 60 countries having announced plans and strategies for hydrogen development by the end of 2024. Among these, five Arab countries were included. Notably, the number of hydrogen production projects in Arab nations had reached 127 by the close of 2024. This surge in hydrogen initiatives aligns with the global target of producing 8 million tons of hydrogen by 2030, as set by various governments.
