HENSOLDT Strengthening Collaboration with Airbus for Hydrogen-Powered Aircraft
Key Ideas
  • HENSOLDT has won a contract to supply a Functional Integration Bench for Airbus' ZEROe project to develop hydrogen-powered aircraft by 2035.
  • The integration bench will be crucial in validating the control and monitoring system for the hydrogen engine on Airbus A380 testbed aircraft, ensuring performance and safety.
  • ALYSA® software by HENSOLDT will enable testing and validation of critical systems, reducing technical risks and supporting aeronautical innovations.
  • The collaboration between HENSOLDT and Airbus in France has been ongoing for more than 30 years, with the integration bench scheduled for delivery in 2025.
HENSOLDT, through its French subsidiary, has secured a contract with Airbus as part of the ZEROe project to supply a Functional Integration Bench (FIB) using its ALYSA® solution for hydrogen-powered aircraft development by 2035. The bench will validate the control and monitoring system for the hydrogen engine on the Airbus A380 testbed aircraft, ensuring performance and safety critical for decarbonizing air transport. Designed in Toulouse, the bench will incorporate ALYSA® software for real-time simulation and validation. This technology will reduce technical risks early in the project and support Airbus' aeronautical innovations. The collaboration signifies a new milestone in the longstanding partnership between HENSOLDT and Airbus in France, with the delivery of the integration bench set for 2025.
