Italy has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting renewable energy projects in Tunisia and exploring new collaborations in the sector, including a focus on green hydrogen. The Mission Structure of the Mattei Plan, along with Eni and Enel Green Power, discussed cooperation opportunities with the Tunisian Minister of Industry, Mines, and Energy, aiming to leverage Italy's expertise in renewable energy to advance Tunisia's energy transition. The joint efforts also aim to establish a pilot project for renewable hydrogen production in Tunisia, aligning with the Mattei Plan's objectives for energy integration between North Africa and Europe. This initiative seeks to involve Tunisian companies and operators in project development to facilitate skills transfer and collaboration with research institutions. Tunisia's strategic position for energy export to Europe, coupled with the Elmed energy interconnection project, has attracted international interest in green hydrogen production in the country.
