ITM Power, a hydrogen technology firm based in Sheffield, has secured a contract to participate in a significant project in Germany involving the installation of a 100MW electrolyser plant. This project, known as Refhyne II, will focus on utilizing ITM Power's innovative technology to generate green hydrogen by splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen. By supplying 100MW of its Trident stacks and skids, ITM Power will play a key role in producing up to 44,000 kilograms of renewable hydrogen daily at the Shell Rheinland Energy and Chemicals Park in Germany, contributing to the decarbonization of fuel production at Shell's Wesseling refinery. The electrolyser is set to become operational in 2027. This project builds on the success of the previous Refhyne I plant and the expertise of ITM Power and Linde Engineering in implementing green hydrogen projects across Europe. ITM Power's CEO, Dennis Schulz, expressed pride in the company being chosen for this project, emphasizing the performance of their latest electrolyser technology. Additionally, ITM Power has undergone a restructuring process aimed at reducing losses, which included workforce reductions, product portfolio streamlining, and addressing production bottlenecks. The company expects a significant improvement in adjusted Ebitda losses, showcasing a positive outlook for the future of ITM Power.
