Linde Engineering has been selected to supply its HISORP® CC carbon capture technology for the Hail and Ghasha project by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) in the United Arab Emirates. This project, known as one of the world's largest offshore sour gas developments, will utilize Linde's advanced carbon capture solution to purify and sequester carbon dioxide (CO2) from natural gas and oil production. The technology will assist ADNOC in its target to capture 1.5 million tonnes of CO2 annually for underground storage, contributing significantly to emissions reduction. Additionally, the project will focus on generating low-carbon hydrogen to replace fuel gas, accompanied by the use of clean power sources like nuclear and renewable energy.
Alongside providing the core units, Linde will collaborate with NEXTCHEM to ensure the efficient design and implementation of hydrogen and CO2 recovery units. This partnership aims to leverage cutting-edge technologies for processes such as raw gas compression, dehydration, and CO2 separation. The agreement underscores Linde's commitment to sustainable solutions and highlights its role in the international lighthouse project for ADNOC.
Furthermore, the MENA Industrial Gases Conference 2024, scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi, will showcase the region's focus on decarbonisation, green energy, and industrial advancements. Countries like Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE are set to play a pivotal role in shaping gas and energy ecosystems, aligning with global sustainability goals. The conference will provide a platform to discuss the vision for industrial gas growth and the transition towards cleaner energy sources in the Middle East and North Africa region.
