Key Ideas
- The Netherlands' Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management awarded €8.2 million to Fountain Fuel for advancing hydrogen mobility.
- Fountain Fuel plans to use the funding to expand hydrogen fueling infrastructure and reduce CO2 emissions by 4,000 tons annually.
- The company will collaborate with several partners to accelerate projects and contribute to the transition to cleaner transport in the Netherlands.
- The high demand for hydrogen projects led to an increase in the available subsidy for 2025 to €40 million, aiming to further boost hydrogen development.
The Netherlands' Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management (IenW) granted €8.2 million to Fountain Fuel as part of the Hydrogen in Mobility 2024 subsidy program. The initiative, which allocated a total of €28 million to different consortia involving local hydrogen players, aims to advance hydrogen mobility in the country. Fountain Fuel plans to use the funding to expand hydrogen fueling infrastructure and facilitate the transition to cleaner transport. The projects supported by the subsidy are expected to result in a direct CO2 reduction of around 4,000 tons annually by replacing fossil fuels with hydrogen. Collaborating with partners like MAN Truck & Bus BV, E-LIONS H2, Stellantis, Renault Group HYVIA, zepp.solutions, and Hydrogen Utrecht, Fountain Fuel aims to accelerate the implementation of hydrogen projects. The high interest in hydrogen technology is evident from the 100 companies that applied for the subsidy, including fueling station operators and vehicle manufacturers. In response to this demand, IenW announced an increase in the available subsidy for 2025 to €40 million, signaling a strong commitment to further promote hydrogen development and clean energy initiatives in the Netherlands.
