NTPC, GRIDCO, and CRUT have joined forces in a significant collaboration to promote green energy initiatives in Odisha, with a primary focus on advancing green hydrogen mobility. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on December 23, 2024, at Lok Sewa Bhawan in Bhubaneswar. NTPC plans to set up a green hydrogen fueling station in the city and introduce hydrogen-powered buses for both short and long-distance travel, aiming to replace conventional fossil fuel buses with cleaner alternatives to enhance decarbonization and energy security. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) is supporting this project financially. NTPC has a successful track record in running green hydrogen projects, including a blending project in Surat, Gujarat, and mobility initiatives in Leh, Greater Noida, and Kandla. Moreover, NTPC is working on establishing a green hydrogen hub in Visakhapatnam and is on course to achieve 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032, showcasing a strong commitment to sustainable energy practices.
