Power2X and Advario have announced a partnership to establish the largest green hydrogen-based sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production facility in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. With an annual production capacity exceeding 250,000 tonnes of e-SAF, this plant is set to be a significant player in the green energy sector. The production process will utilize green methanol imported for feedstock and locally produced green hydrogen. The strategic location of the facility near European airports, particularly Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, will streamline the distribution of the produced SAF. The Port of Rotterdam Authority has highlighted the importance of such projects in meeting the growing demand for sustainable aviation fuel in Europe. Despite challenges faced by other projects in the industry, the collaboration between Power2X and Advario represents a positive step towards decarbonization and sustainable energy solutions.
