Nel Hydrogen Electrolyser AS, a subsidiary of Nel ASA, has entered into a new contract worth EUR 5 million with Samsung C&T Corporation Engineering & Construction Group for a 10 MW alkaline electrolyser equipment. This agreement is directed towards establishing a pilot project for nuclear-connected pink hydrogen production. The initiative aims to leverage excess nuclear power generation to produce hydrogen, thus improving overall energy efficiency by utilizing otherwise wasted energy during periods of oversupply. Samsung C&T had previously collaborated with Nel ASA on an off-grid solar power project and is now expanding towards nuclear pink hydrogen. The partnership highlights the significance of utilizing Nel's technology for executing the project successfully. The contract includes the purchase of alkaline stacks and balance-of-stacks for the project. The electrodes will be manufactured at the Herøya facility in Norway, which boasts the world's first fully automated electrolyser production line.
