The Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority (The COMET) has initiated a groundbreaking transition towards sustainable transit with the introduction of new zero-emission buses into passenger service. The project, funded by a $2.9 million grant from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), has brought forth two battery-electric and two hydrogen fuel cell buses to The COMET's fleet. These cutting-edge vehicles, currently in pilot service, will be fully integrated into daily routes starting in May 2025, marking a significant milestone in the agency's commitment to cleaner air and innovative transit solutions.
