TotalEnergies and Air Products have entered a significant 15-year agreement to supply 70,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually in Europe, starting from 2030. This collaboration is a response to TotalEnergies' call for tenders to procure 500,000 tonnes of green hydrogen yearly to decarbonize its European refineries. By leveraging Air Products' global supply network, green hydrogen will be delivered to TotalEnergies' Northern European refineries, aiming to mitigate approximately 700,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year. The partnership is part of TotalEnergies' ambitious goal to slash net greenhouse gas emissions from its oil and gas operations by 40% by 2030, compared to 2015 levels. Furthermore, Air Products, a key player in the hydrogen sector, has pledged more than US$15 billion for substantial energy transition initiatives, positioning itself as a prominent supplier in the low-carbon hydrogen market. The cooperation extends beyond hydrogen, with plans for TotalEnergies to provide green power to Air Products, further enhancing the decarbonization efforts of both companies. Additionally, a memorandum of understanding has been inked for renewable power supply, including a Power Purchase Agreement for 150 MW of solar energy from a Texas project, with intentions to explore similar agreements in the UK, Poland, and France. The agreement signifies a crucial step towards fostering a green hydrogen industry and accelerating the transition to sustainable energy practices.
