Parts of Redruth are currently undergoing rolling road closures as Wales and West Utilities embark on upgrading the town's gas pipe network. The project, aimed at ensuring safe and reliable gas flow to households and businesses, is slated for completion in December. Project manager Abby Smith emphasized the significance of the work for maintaining gas supply and mentioned the presence of a dedicated team to expedite the process while mitigating disruptions. The upgrades not only focus on the immediate gas supply but also on future-proofing the network to facilitate the transportation of hydrogen and biomethane, aligning with environmental sustainability goals. The road closures, including temporary traffic lights and rolling two-way lights, are strategically planned to be executed in phases to minimize inconvenience to residents and commuters in the affected areas. The project demonstrates a proactive approach by Wales and West Utilities in ensuring energy infrastructure readiness for a greener future.
