The City of Lancaster has renamed the Multi-Agency Regional Resilience Center project as the 'Parris Center' in recognition of Mayor R. Rex Parris and his family for their exceptional contributions to the city's advancement in green and renewable energy initiatives. Mayor Parris has been pivotal in leading Lancaster's journey towards becoming a net-zero and hydrogen city, investing significantly in solar energy and launching programs like Lancaster Energy, which focuses on clean energy resources including hydrogen, green ammonia, and solar power. The Parris Center is set to be a groundbreaking building utilizing hydrogen, electricity, and heat pumps to achieve a zero-carbon footprint, emphasizing sustainability and energy resiliency. Collaborating with Japanese partners and organizations like NEDO, the Parris Center will demonstrate cutting-edge energy management practices using locally-generated solar power for hydrogen production. The center's design aims to be the largest Zero Energy Building powered by green hydrogen, catering to electric power generation, energy storage, heat, EV charging, and fueling for hydrogen vehicles. The groundbreaking ceremony for the Parris Center took place in July 2024, signifying a significant step towards sustainable and innovative energy practices in Lancaster.
