Diversified Energy Company PLC has partnered with FuelCell Energy and TESIAC to develop 360 megawatts of power generation capacity for data centers in Virginia, West Virginia, and Kentucky. The collaboration aims to utilize natural gas and coal mine methane to provide off-grid power, thereby reducing reliance on traditional grid infrastructure. This initiative will involve establishing an Acquisition and Development Company (ADC) to deploy fuel cell technology that can convert methane into hydrogen and electricity through a combustion-free process. By doing so, the partnership expects to minimize emissions, simplify air permitting procedures, and expedite deployment processes. DEC's chief financial officer, Brad Gray, expressed optimism about the project, noting that the market demand for reliable and quickly dispatchable power from natural gas is high, and the partnership holds great potential to meet these needs efficiently. DEC plans to make further announcements soon regarding specific projects, development timelines, and the overall progress of the partnership.
