Siemens Mobility has initiated the production of hydrogen-powered trains to be deployed on the Südostbayernbahn network in Bavaria by late 2026. The order, comprising three 2-car Mireo Plus H trains for the state of Bavaria, aims to replace diesel trains at the Mühldorf hub, enhancing sustainability by reducing CO2 emissions, noise levels, and exhaust gas. The new trains boast features like space for bicycles, improved mobile phone reception, and easy access due to their low-floor design. Siemens Mobility was also awarded a service contract for the hydrogen supply system for the trains. These trains will operate on a non-electrified route, serving eight stations, with an emphasis on emission-free mobility. The hydrogen supply will be facilitated by an electrolysis plant in Mühldorf powered entirely by green electricity. The Mireo Plus H trains are equipped with advanced technology, offering emission-free operation, high energy efficiency, and low noise levels. Siemens Mobility's innovation in sustainable transport solutions is showcased through these hydrogen-powered trains, aligning with the goal of achieving climate neutrality in rail transport.
