GAC Spain has announced its expansion to the Port of Huelva, a move aimed at providing essential maritime services and logistical support in response to the surging developments in green hydrogen and renewable energy infrastructure in southern Spain. Sergio Delatorre, the managing director of GAC Spain, emphasized the strategic significance of establishing a presence in both Huelva and Algeciras to meet the evolving needs of customers amidst the ongoing energy transition in the region. The Port of Huelva, a key player in Spain's energy shift, is part of the Andalusia Green Hydrogen Valley project, spearheaded by CEPSA. This EUR3 billion initiative focuses on constructing two green hydrogen production facilities in Huelva and San Roque, with a combined capacity of 2 GW and potential annual output of 300,000 tonnes of green hydrogen. The move by GAC to expand its footprint in Huelva aligns with the broader ambitions of the Andalusian region to lead in renewable energy projects. GAC's recent establishment in Huelva comes shortly after the opening of an office in Algeciras, Spain's largest port, underscoring the company's commitment to supporting the green energy sector. With the growing momentum in renewable energy initiatives in Spain, GAC's presence in these strategic ports enhances its role in facilitating the green hydrogen market and contributing to the country's sustainable energy objectives.
