The Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) Hydrogen Innovation Centre was inaugurated at the Tamil Nadu Investors Conclave 2024 in Chennai by Thiru MK Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. The groundbreaking ceremony marked the partnership between HMIL, the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM), and Guidance Tamil Nadu to establish a state-of-the-art facility aimed at driving innovation in hydrogen technology. This strategic initiative received strong support from the Tamil Nadu State Government, with key dignitaries attending the virtual ceremony. The 65,000 sq. ft. hydrogen innovation centre, to be situated at the IIT Madras Thaiyur campus near Chennai, will play a crucial role in accelerating the development and adoption of hydrogen technology in Tamil Nadu and across India. The centre's focus on green hydrogen generation, localized manufacturing, fuel cell testing, and research on hydrogen infrastructure showcases a commitment to advancing alternative fuel technologies.
