TotalEnergies SE and Air Liquide SA have announced an expansion of their partnership to increase green hydrogen production in northern Europe. The companies have formed a 50-50 joint venture to build a 250-Mw electrolyzer project near the Zeeland Refinery in Vlissingen, the Netherlands. This project will enable the production of up to 30,000 tonnes/year of green hydrogen, primarily for the Zeeland refining platform. TotalEnergies aims to decarbonize its refineries and transition towards carbon neutrality by 2050. By supplying renewable power from offshore wind projects to the electrolyzer projects, TotalEnergies is emphasizing its shift towards sustainable operations. Air Liquide will utilize electrolyzer technology from its partnership with Siemens Energy, supporting TotalEnergies' goal to decarbonize hydrogen across its European refineries by 2030. This collaboration highlights a significant step towards reducing carbon emissions in the refining industry and promoting a greener energy future.
