TotalEnergies and RWE have entered into a significant partnership aimed at curbing CO2 emissions at the Leuna refinery in Germany by providing 30,000 tons of green hydrogen annually. This initiative will lead to the prevention of 300,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year starting in 2030. The green hydrogen will be generated by a 300 MW electrolyzer facility in Lingen, operated by RWE, and will be stored locally before being transported via a 600 km pipeline to the refinery. This marks the largest green hydrogen contract ever from an electrolyzer in Germany. The CEOs of both companies expressed their enthusiasm for this collaboration, emphasizing the role of hydrogen in reducing emissions.
