Martin Uher Bus in the Czech Republic has made a significant move towards sustainable transport by acquiring 10 Urbino 12 hydrogen-powered buses from Solaris Bus & Coach. These buses are set to operate in the Central Bohemian region around Prague. The hydrogen fuel for these buses will be sourced from the Vrané nad Vltavou hydroelectric power plant, ensuring that they run on 100% green electricity, thus reducing carbon emissions. The vehicles will be equipped with fuel cells providing a total power of 70kW, facilitating faster refueling times compared to traditional batteries. The buses will start serving the public in the challenging terrain of hilly areas around Mnísek pod Brdy by the end of 2025. The Governor of the region, Petra Pecková, highlighted the importance of this project as the first major hydrogen initiative in the country. Martin Uher, the Managing Director of Martin Uher Bus, expressed enthusiasm for the project, emphasizing the benefits of hydrogen technology. Solaris' Managing Director, Roman Zdráhal, shared the company's pride in contributing its expertise to this project, having previously delivered numerous hydrogen fuel cell buses to European customers. This initiative signifies a positive step towards sustainable transportation and showcases the increasing adoption of hydrogen-powered vehicles in the region.
